Vicente Javier López Mate

Vicente Javier López Mate holds an international PhD in Literary Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Oxford, and is currently an Assistant Professor in the area of English Philology at the University of Alcalá. He is the Secretary and Treasurer of the International Arthurian Society – Hispanic Branch and a member of the Research Group on ‘Middle Age and Renaissance Studies’. His research focuses on English Medieval Literature and the didactics of English language through literature. He is the coordinator of the “Observed Teaching Practice” in the Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language at the University of Alcalá.
In recent years, he has taken part in and coordinated several teaching innovation projects, particularly those aimed at using Reader’s Theatre as an inclusive strategy for English language learning in Higher Education “Innovación en Escena: El Teatro de Lectores para el aprendizaje del inglés desde una perspectiva inclusiva e intercultural” and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education, such as the Agenda 2030 Working Group “Promoción de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible a través de la Educación Superior: Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales.” He has also contributed to the internationalisation of the University of Alcalá through his involvement in the “Red Internacional de Estudios Culturales, Lingüísticos y Literarios en Lengua Inglesa: de la extensión a la difusión”, collaborating with scholars from leading international institutions.
