Raquel Fernández-Fernández is a professor at the Modern Languages Department at Universidad de Alcalá. She holds a PhD. in Modern Languages (Universidad de Alcalá, Spain) with a doctoral dissertation about the use of literature in EFL Secondary Education classrooms. Her postgraduate education allowed her to complete research stays at the University of Limerick (Ireland) and the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). From 2005 to 2020 she was a full-time professor at Centro Universitario Cardenal Cisneros for 15 years, specialising in teacher education for EFL and CLIL classrooms. There, she also co-designed a CLIL itinerary for the teacher education degrees at this institution, and in 2014 she was awarded the European Language Label for coordinating this innovative project. She is a member of the research group ‘Language and Education’. From 2018 to 2021 she was a researcher for the Erasmus+ Project “Developing FL literacy in CLIL contexts”, together with the University of Warsaw (Poland) and the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia). In 2020 she returned to her alma mater, becoming a professor in the areas of English language, literature and translation. One year later, she was appointed Director of Studies of the University Master’s in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, in which she had been collaborating as an invited professor since 2013. She considers herself a passionate teacher and lifelong learner.
