Angela Alvarez-Cofiño Martínez

Angela Alvarez-Cofiño Martínez has got a Degree in English Teaching and a PhD in English studies, with a doctoral thesis on the implementation of CLIL in Science at Primary Education (“Cum Laude”).

She has been a teacher trainer all around Spain for many years now and has also published several articles and book chapters on CLIL, including teachers’ guides and classroom materials for Oxford University Press. Between 2018 and 202 she has been the only Spanish member of an International Experts Panel on Synthetic Phonics.

She was awarded a National Prize in Educative Innovation for an English at Pre-Primary Stage project in 2003, and in 2004, 2005 and 2009 she has been awarded three European Labels for innovation and quality in a CLIL project. In 2011 the European Commission included her work as an example of good practice in Quality and Consistency criteria, in the work document “European Strategic Framework for Education and Training (ET 2020)”.

She has been a consultant for the Ministry of Education in the writing of the current Spanish Education Law (LOMLOE) English curricula for Primary Education.

At present, she is a bilingual teacher at C.P. Parque Infantil (Oviedo, Spain) and she is also a professor at the Languages and Education Faculty in the University Antonio de Nebrija, in the Masters on Bilingual Education, where she teaches the two subjects having to do with CLIL (Planning CLIL Courses and Design of CLIL Materials and Resources).
