Irene Sanz Alonso

Irene Sanz Alonso is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Modern Philology of the University of Alcalá. Before joining the University of Alcalá, she worked as an English teacher for the Spanish Navy and for the Autonomous Region of Madrid. She finished her PhD in 2014 with a dissertation titled: “Redefining Humanity in Science Fiction: The Alien from an Ecofeminist Perspective.” Since 2008 she is a member of GIECO, a Spanish research group on ecocriticism, and since 2010 she has been a member of the editorial team of Ecozon@: European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment. Her main research interests are ecofeminism, science fiction, and fantasy, focusing on literature and on audiovisual products. She has participated in several research projects: “Historias para el cambio”, Acis&Galatea (H2015/HUM-3362) and Aglaya “Estrategias de innovación en mitocrítica cultural” (H2019/HUM-5714).
